In case you’ve been MIA or, you know, living under a rock, the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) is the new way of providing support for Australians with disability, their families and their carers through reliable insurance.

It’s a massive change to the old way of doing things, so it’s being rolled out progressively to ensure it’s sustainable and that it’s done properly.

This means that people will move to the NDIS at different stages depending on their age and living arrangements.

In our home state of Tasmania, the NDIS will be fully operational for all age groups by July 2019.

That’s an expected coverage of over 10,500 Tasmanians with disability.

While it’s currently only available for 12-28 year olds, in short 2 years’ time, the insurance it provides will give people from all age groups with disability (and their loved ones) peace of mind.

As we know, disability can quite literally affect anyone and having a great support network can make an incredible difference.
